Jordan is a predominantly Muslim society, however the country is quite Westernised and very used to tourists who wear shorts and short sleeved tops. We advise against these for women when visiting the sites and mosques as much for protection against the sun as showing respect for a Muslim culture. Within hotels, you can where what you like. If you are doing an activity you can wear comfortable clothing suitable to that activity.
